On April 21, 2013 Mike Wiegele was made a life member of the Canadian Society of Mountain Medicine. Mike received the honor at a celebratory dinner in Whistler to mark the occasion and also to kick off the final week of training for mountain physicians enrolled in the first Canadian Diploma of Mountain Medicine course. The Canadian Diploma Course exists in part due to Mike’s advocacy at the International Commission for Alpine Rescue where the merit of such an undertaking in Canada needed champions. CSGA Ski Touring Course at Mike Wiegele Helicopter Skiing

This past weekend, the Canadian Ski Guide Association hosted a Spring Ski Touring course for Youth. Mike Wiegele Helicopter Skiing Lead Guides Crosby Johnson and Scott Streadwick guided 8 aspiring ski guides into the backcountry terrain of the Cariboos. The course took place over 4 days and it introduced these guys to the skills of ski touring (or splitboarding) as well as winter camping and survival. February was another phenomenal month of heli-skiing and heli-boarding in the Cariboo and Monashee Mountains in Blue River, BC. At our official remote weather station, total snowfall for the month of February measured 155cm.     For the first time in it's history, Shreducation is offering a Backcountry Camp at the world-famous Mike Wiegele Heli Skiing in Blue River, BC. The ultimate way to learn essential backcountry safety, skills, and technique in a safe and controlled setting. Campers will spend the week in a snowcat and helicopter with both professional guides and their coaches, exploring the backcountry terrain of the Cariboo and Monashee mountain ranges. January 2013 was another fantastic month of heli skiing and heli boarding in the Cariboo and Monashee mountains.
